To talk about logistics trends in 2023, we will consider the most relevant events in the market in 2022 and their results.
In fact, the year 2022 was a time of post-covid recovery, even so, we face challenges such as the War in Ukraine that there are still no signs of ending, inflation, among others.
Taking all that into consideration, we’ve listed what we can expect in the coming year. Check it out!
1. More proactive companies looking for growth
The Covid-19 pandemic caused many companies to enter survival mode in the face of unforeseen events and risks during this crisis.
The year 2022 was practically a year to seek stability after this blow.
For 2023, it is expected that more managers will have a more proactive posture, to reassess their strategies and seek to enhance and innovate their businesses.
This is great and necessary, however, you always have to think in the long term.
2. The search for data visibility must continue
Visibility within the supply chain brought a new way of doing management that is much more accurate and intelligent.
Once its advantages are experienced, managers will seek to further expand their ability to obtain data from all possible areas.
Software that allows tracking and integration with various systems, including that of partners, has the potential to reduce errors, streamline processes and improve customer satisfaction.
So investing clearly in end-to-end data is the likely next phase.
3. Big players will continue to make strides in advanced technologies
Even before the pandemic, market-leading companies were already betting on industry 4.0 technologies.
While small and medium-sized companies are still on a marathon to digitize their supply chain processes, big players continue to test innovations.
And the trend for logistics in 2023 is for them to advance even further, making use of solutions such as IA, robotics, drones, etc., continuing in the coming years.
4. Cybersecurity will still be on the rise
With the growth of online shopping, the number of “rogue users” trying to scam virtual stores and steal data from companies and customers also grows.
In 2021 alone, attacks on supply chain software grew by 300%, according to a study by Argon Security.
So, those who haven’t sought protection in this regard should prepare themselves to avoid this risk.
5. Investments in a more efficient last mile
Home delivery shopping has only grown in recent years.
With that in mind, the search to improve the efficiency of last-mile deliveries, at a lower cost and more agility, without compromising quality, must not stop.
For the next year, solutions such as drones, autonomous vehicles, bicycles and other more sustainable vehicles will probably continue to be tested.
We could certainly talk about many other trends for logistics in 2023, such as the rise of automation, more applications for AI, Blockchain, cloud and the use of more sustainable transport, as well as challenges to be overcome, such as increased freight prices, increasingly faster deliveries, in addition to labor and manpower challenges.
Although there are these challenges, we believe that technology will be a great ally to overcome them.
